Getting to TAFE

There are multiple ways to get to your campus. Some campuses offer parking (free and/or paid), you could cycle, and others are serviced by public transport. Full time students studying at TAFE Queensland may even be eligible for discounted fares on public transport services. Contact your local customer service team for more information on getting to your campus.

Navigating your campus

Get a head-start on getting to know your campus before you even start by checking out our website:

Different services and facilities are on offer at your campus from canteens to beauty salons, and for most campuses you can download a map so you can familiarise yourself with your class locations.

Accessing campus WiFi

Free WiFi is available for students at most TAFE Queensland campuses. You can use the WiFi to access your course materials, online services, and more. By using the WiFi you are agreeing to the student rules and policies.

If you’re on a campus with WiFi, you will connect to the TAFE_OPEN wireless network. For more details on how to connect, visit our website.

Student ID cards

This guy just picked up his ID card.

We think you’re a rock star for studying, and all rock stars need a VIP pass. Your student ID card is that pass. You’ll need your student ID when borrowing books and sitting exams, and security officers can request to see them while you’re on campus, so always have it on hand. Your card also comes with some pretty sweet perks. It can also make you eligible for cheaper public transport and student discount offers in your area.

Your student ID card is free, but there is a fee if you need a replacement so treat it like the important piece of plastic it is.

Connect is TAFE Queensland’s Learning Management System (LMS). Through Connect you can access your study resources, submit assessments, view your grades, and communicate with teachers and classmates. Connect is available online 24 hours a day, allowing you to study anywhere, anytime.

You will need your username (student number) and password to log in. To change your password log in first or use the TAFE Password Manager for resets or forgotten passwords.

Learning support

VET students in classLearning support is available for all students. You can access help with:

  • assignments, essay writing and referencing
  • study skills and exam preparation

  • time management and organisation skills

Class support, workshops and tutorials may also be provided at different locations.

If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not sure where to start it’s ok. Whether you’re struggling with writing, maths, or referencing you can get immediate, one-on-one help from a subject specialist via Studiosity. To access Studiosity for free as a TAFE Queensland student you must be logged in to Connect. Under the ‘Student Links’ widget you will see ‘Studiosity — After Hours Assessment Help’.

Library services

All students are able to access the TAFE Queensland library network. The library network offers a range of physical and digital services and resources to support you throughout your study.

If there is a library on your campus, make sure you check it out.

Alternatively you can visit the libraries website online.

Important dates and events

Take note of important events and dates throughout the year. You don’t want to be the person who shows up to an empty campus on a public holiday. Make sure you check the academic calendar regularly, and ask your teachers if you have any questions.

Don’t be this guy who doesn’t know what’s going on.

Your local campus may also host events for students from careers fairs to free BBQs. Make sure to bookmark our upcoming events page and take advantage of these opportunities.
