It’s no surprise that as the warmer months start to fade away, so do our tans. With the change of season to winter, comes a change of foundation colour. Our beauty teachers have five simple tips for you to make foundation matching a little easier.
One – Shop with no make up on
This may seem like a scary thought to some, but is the best way to get a true colour match!
Two – Test foundation colours
Test foundations on the face between the ear and outer corner of the mouth. Trust us.
Three – Colours and application
When trying foundations, use or test no more than three colours. Apply these in stripes next to each other for the best comparison.
Four – Blending
Lightly blend each test stripe into the skin. Be careful not to blend them too heavily together, or you may not be able to tell which one suits you the best.
Five – Time to choose
Once you’ve done all of the above, it’s time to choose your new foundation. Pick the colour the blends closest with the natural skin colour of your face and décolletage. If in doubt, ask a shop assistant (that’s what they’re there for after all, don’t be shy), a friend, or take a photo and come back later.
